Dale is a legal clerk originally from Chicago who came to Toronto after her father died in 2000. She left the family, country and the Catholic upbringing that she knew and now she is torn between
a desire to believe and a sense that God has let her down. Dale is skeptical of organized religion but is fueled by a powerful spiritual belief.
Garth is a life coach from Toronto , who is trying to perfect his spiritual journey. The son of a Ghanaian father and a prairie Scots mother, Garth is a complex and intelligent seeker. Often cerebral, Garth's challenge is participating emotionally as well as intellectually.
Laurie is an Albertan housewife, struggling to find her voice and break out of the traditional role of wife and mother. Having abandoned a more traditional Catholic upbringing, she now questions how to raise her children in a less structured and less religious home. Laurie is tired of feeling "spiritually vacant" and is looking for something to fill her with the religious and spiritual wonder that she believes is out there.
Brian is a mediator living in Victoria on the west coast. During the latter half of his life he has been slowly going blind and has never seen the features of his childrens' faces. His challenges are great but his heart is full. Brian also attended seminary college but turned away from the uniformity. He is a contrarian in search of a spiritual home.
